It's time to get spooky, bitches!! I don't know abut you, but I am obsessed with horror films and all things scary, so seeing the sites of the Salem Witch Trials was always a bucket list item for me. So we took our time and thoroughly researched all the historic sites to see around Salem and even found that new sites were being found as recent as 2016!

Salem, MA. is a really cool town, so outside of the sites listed below, be sure to walk around the town and really explore. It's VERY unique.

  • Proctor’s Ledge – The location where it was confirmed that the executions of 19 people occurred after being accused of witchcraft. This wasn’t confirmed until 2016, about 325 years after it occurred. If you’re driving by, you may miss it because it’s right in the middle of a neighborhood, but don’t miss the chance to see the memorial they have set up now now that the know where exactly it took place. If you want to walk over, I just parked in the Walgreens parking lot down the street. Address: 7 Pope St.

  • Witch House – This was the home of the Witch Trials Judge, Jonathan Corwin. It’s the only structure still standing with direct ties to the trials. He was one of the deciders to send all 19 people accused of witchcraft to be sent to the gallows. Address: 310 Essex St.

  • Salem Witch Museum– Includes different exhibits of the events of the Witch Trials. I admittedly didn't go in, but it was a pretty cool building to take pictures outside of. Address: 19 1/2 N Washington Sq.

  • The Burying Point – It’s the oldest burying ground in the city. Justice John Hathorne, an ancestor of Nathaniel Hawthorne, and one of the judges in the Witchcraft Court are buried here. One of the areas of the grounds is actually even dedicated to the Witch Trials Memorial. Address: 51 Charter St.

  • Howard Street Cemetery – This cemetery is said to be where Giles Corey was taken to be pressed to death, a torture chosen because he refused to stand trial. They say this place is haunted (I guess what cemetery, isn't?), but when I look at this photo to this day, I still feel weird. Address: Howard St.

  • Bewitched Statue – Okay, so not technically about the Witch Trials, but it pays tribute to the TV show and the fact that the 7th season was filmed in Salem. Address: 235 Essex St.

OTHER FUN PLACES TO SEE IN/NEAR SALEM

  • The House of the Seven Gables – The house that acts as the setting of Nathaniel Hawthorne’s 1851 novel. Address: 115 Derby St.

  • Harvard Campus – Okay, so this isn’t in Salem, it’s actually in Cambridge, MA, but I HAD to stop by and walk through the Harvard Yard. My inner Elle Woods was so excited!

XOXO, Cam
