Ready for a bitchin' weekend in West Texas?! Then you came to the right place. In addition to the amazing food, this town (and the surrounding areas) is the perfect location to get a ton of insta-worthy shots. Here are some of our fav spots to take a pic and grab a bite!

Most Instagram-able Spots:

1. Prada - while it's not a working store and is just an art installation, it's still a great photo op right in the middle of the Texas desert! To get here from Marfa, drive about 26 miles west on US-90 and it'll be just past Valentine.

2. "Welcome to Marfa" sign - you'll find it on US-90 between the town and Prada!

3. Chinati Foundation - really cool art installation for you to explore.

4. Central Fire Station - I mean COME ON, it's PINK! You'll find this gem located downtown across the street from the courthouse.

5. "Greetings from Marfa" mural - fun little spot right outside of Frama Coffee.

6. Marfa Lights Viewing Area - if you're in to the paranormal and aliens, checking these out is a MUST for you. On special, rare, clear nights far off in the distance in this tiny town in the middle of the desert you may get the chance to spot the infamous Marfa Lights. No one knows what they really are, but if you see them, prepare to be mesmerized - we were! You'll see orb-like lights illuminate the sky, move up and down, side to side, get bigger, separate, and join back together. There's a viewing area they have set up, so when it gets dark, bring a blanket and a bottle of wine and get ready to gaze at the unknown. Good luck at viewing!

And if you're willing to travel a bit outside of Marfa...

7. Shop at the tiniest Target you've ever seen - to find it, drive east from Marfa on US-90 and you'll see it about halfway between Alpine and Marathon on the right side of the road along the train tracks.

8. Visit the Ghost Town of Terlingua - check out the decaying buildings, unique little shops, the famous Starlight Theatre, and old jail, and more.

9. Take a Hike at Big Bend National Park

Where to Eat & Drink:

  • Marfa Burrito - a famous spot where all the stars go to get some of the biggest burritos you've ever seen. Be sure to bring cash!

  • Boyz 2 Men - their burgers are absolutely BITCHIN'

  • Frama Coffee - enjoy an afternoon pick-me-up and take a photo at the mural outside

  • Lost Horse Saloon - grab a drink here and be sure to check out their outdoor patio in the back.

  • Hotel Paisano - great spot for a late night snack and drink.

Our Itinerary:

  • We drove in on a Friday for a short weekend trip from Dallas (about a 7.5 hour drive). We got in at about midnight and basically went straight to sleep as we had a long drive and an early start.

  • Saturday morning we woke up super early and headed straight to the Prada installation so we could be there before there was too big of a crowd an we wouldn't have to worry about sharing the space too much. We'd recommend being there just after sunrise.

  • Be sure to capture the "Welcome to Marfa" sign on your way back in to town!

  • Then we headed to get a big burrito at Marfa Burrito for breakfast - SO yummy.

  • Afterwards we spend the morning at the Chinati Founation, I'd recommend planning on spending at least an hour there, there's quite a bit to see.

  • We spent the afternoon hitting up the rest of the town including the mural and fire station before getting a late lunch/early dinner at Boyz 2 Men.

  • Once it started to get dark, we prepared for our adventure at the Marfa Lights Viewing Area. After getting our minds completely BLOWN for over an hour, we headed back to town.

  • There isn't a ton of spots that are open late, but we enjoyed the vibe at the Lost Horse Saloon where we had a couple of drinks and then the great apps and fancy cocktails at the upscale Hotel Paisano before heading to bed.

  • We woke up early Sunday morning to start our trek a bit down south. It's about a two hour drive to the Ghost Town of Terlingua, but it's definitely worth the time to explore it!

  • After you've been spooked enough, time to head to Big Bend! We hiked the Chisos Basin Loop Train - it was one of the easier ones that only took about an hour but had AMAZING views.

  • After our hike it was time to head back towards Dallas, but be sure to stop at the Target in Marathon on your way back for your last stop of the trip.

XOXO, Cam
