Are you looking to start traveling but are on a budget? Need help finding small ways to save cash? Well these bitches have got your back! Here are a few ways to save some money before and during your trip. Happy saving!

  • Travel with multiple people to split costs - I know sometimes traveling with other people can be a hassle because you have to plan around each other's schedules and it's can be hard decide what y'all do on the trip that meets all of your preferences, but traveling with others can do a LOT for your wallet. Hotels is a big cost you will be able to split, but make sure you're comfortable sharing a room or even a bad with them. Getting a room with 2 queen beds that can be split by up to 4 people will cut down your accommodation costs by 75%! Also, think about transportation like taxis and Ubers. It's not something you're paying for alone, but splitting with a group.

  • Buy souvenirs at the end of your trip - you will find that most of the main tourist shops have a lot of the same souvenirs. If you wait until the end of your trip, you'll be able to take the entire trip to scope out all of the find with shops have what you want at the lowest cost.

  • Travel with a carry-on bag only - I know this may sound crazy, especially if you're going abroad or on a long trip, but sticking with a carry-on bag only can save around $25 per flight. So for a round-trip flight, that's $50 you've save already and that's not even counting flight between cities if you have multiple destinations. Just be sure to stick to your essentials, where your chunkiest items on the plane (like boots, sweaters, or coats), and bring a personal bag like a purse or backpack (which are usually included in your plane ticket) so you have an extra place to pack items in to.

  • Stay where you have access to a washer/dryer - this goes hand-in-hand with the previous point, but a good way to pack less items so you can ensure you're able to fit everything in to a carry-on is to stay somewhere where you have access to a washer and dryer. This will allow you bring less outfits with you since you're able to clean them at your leisure.

  • Bring your own food on flights - if you're budget traveling by flying on base fare flights (like Spirit or Norwegian), food/drinks are not complimentary on your flights and anything you do buy is EXTREMELY expensive. So either eat right before you go to the airport, or pack your own sealed snacks in your carry-on so you have access to them throughout your flight.

  • Book tours online - a lot of times you will find by buying tours, tickets, excursions, etc. online, you will get a discount. This doesn't happen all the time, but you may get lucky so just do your research!

  • Get a credit card with no travel fees - there are certain travel credit cards out there that will charge you no fees for using them abroad. If you don't have this, every purchase you make with your credit card in another country will charge a small fee. While the fee may not be THAT much, having it charged on EVERY purchase will surely add up.
