Some times we can be really dumb bitches..... so we made these mistakes so you don't have to! Learn from us!
Not packing a carry-on - We always do our absolute best to ONLY pack in a carry-on, but on longer-term trips or maybe on a winter vacation that requires thicker clothing, sometimes you have to check it in. But even if you do have to check-in a bag, we always recommend also packing a carry-on, even if it's small. We say this because what if your checked suitcase, God forbid, gets lost or even stolen? We don't want you stranded in a new place with nothing but what you wore on the plane. That's why in your carry-on we suggest including a change of clothes (or a few if you can fit), make-up and other beauty essentials like face & hair products, any medication you may have, and valuables you're bringing including jewelry & cash/cards.
Booking trips with short layovers - We know that long vacations to other counties especially may require a layover (or a few). The worst thing that could happen is a flight being delayed, and if that first flight gets delayed, you do NOT want it ruining the rest of your trip. What if your first flight got delayed and then you missed your next one? What if the one your missed was the last flight out for the night and you have to wait until the next day? What if you have a strict schedule for your final destination and you miss a scheduled excursion? Well we don't want any of that to happen, so that's why at minimum we would recommend having at least a one hour layover in between cities.
Not doing overnight flights - If you're flying overseas, that could mean 8-12 hour flights. So why waste daylight sitting on a plane? We recommend booking an overnight flight to your destination so you're able to sleep through it all (hopefully) and stay on a normal sleep schedule. Then once you do finally land, you're well-rested and ready to embark on your first day of your adventure!
Going somewhere without a plan - We are bitches with a plan. When we go somewhere we have a list of places we want to go, things we want to do, and what we want to see. And we really can't imagine doing it any other way. That's because when we are traveling to new places we've never been to, we want to make sure we don't miss out on anything while we are there. So that's why we do a lot of research and read a lot of reviews of the places we're going so we can hear from fellow travelers and even locals.
Not making friends with locals - Some of our absolute favorite memories are times that we spent with locals. If you make connections with them, they can show you the best places to go like their favorite restaurants or bars and maybe even some of the city's secrets you may not have learned about otherwise. It will also give you a chance to immerse yourself in the culture and to make friendships around the world.
